Imagine taking magnificent photographs like these with a camera you make yourself from a tin can or a box!  Under the creative guidance of Mary Carr-Chaisson you'll learn the techniques of pinhole photography and take the first steps toward one day creating works of art like these.

Mary was born and raised right here on the Island and returned to Charlottetown after getting her Bachelor of Fine Arts from Mount Allison University.

She works in several different media.  She loves painting and drawing but it is the pinhole camera that has captured her heart and imagination.

She enjoys the abstraction, distortion, uniqueness and magnification obtained in her pinhole images.  She loves to share her knowledge and skill by showing others how pinhole photography is one of the simplest expressions of the photographic concept and is a fun way to learn the basics of picture taking without having to deal with all the technical aspects of modern photography.
 

As strange as they may look this is the type of pinhole camera Mary will show you how to make.  You'll learn the fascinating history of pinhole photography and how Aristotle was the first to experience it in 384 BC. 

For inspiration, Mary will show you some of the hundreds of amazing photographs she's taken with the different pinhole cameras she uses and once you've built your own camera, she'll take you outside into her beautiful garden and show you how to take your own pictures.  Then you'll head back inside to her darkroom to develop your very own pinhole pictures.

You'll leave with your own pinhole camera, photos you took yourself and a great story to tell your friends and relatives back home about what you did on your vacation!
